East Dorset Police  are appealing for witnesses or anybody else today, who can provide further information after a lorry driver was robbed  between Ferndown and St Leonard’s on February 23 at around 1am.

The victim, a 65-year-old Hungarian man, was sleeping in the cab of his lorry while the offender assaulted him, stole his credit cards and a substantial amount of diesel.

The offender, whose description is not given, attacked the lorry driver with pepper spray or similar substance.

The victim did not suffer from any serious injuries.

Detective Constable Wendy Stout, of county CID, said:  “I understand that the offender may have made off through nearby fields and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed anything out-of-the ordinary in this area last Thursday to contact me as soon as possible.”

“This is a highly unusual incident and anyone with any information about this robbery and fuel theft should get in touch urgently,” she added.
