The Weymouth Pavilion is set to close at the end of May, and only community efforts can save it.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council had been considering five options for the Weymouth Pavilion – including its demolition, but have now agreed to hear take over proposals at a meeting on 21 February.

Save the Pavilion’ will put out a proposal to take over the running of the Pavilion, relying on up to 500 volunteers and seven full time staffers, leaving the 15 currently employed at the Pavilion out of work.

The goal is to keep the Pavilion “self-sustaining and self-supporting,” said Phil Say, Leader of ‘Save the Pavilion’.
