Weymouth sculpture criticised
A £330,000 Olympic sculpture in Weymouth has been called a 'waste of money' and even a traffic hazard by residents.
The unusual-looking artwork, which is due to be completed later this month, greets drivers as they approach the town on the relief road. But some of the locals have criticised it as being a “waste of tax payers’ money”.
BU students get Lost for charity
Bournemouth University students began their weekend by being blindfolded and driven hundreds of miles away from Talbot campus, all to raise money for charity.
Over 150 students participated in this year’s Lost event. Dressed in costumes, armed with just a compass and relying on their instincts and the goodwill of strangers, they had to first figure out where they were, before attempting to make their way back to Bournemouth without spending a penny.
Applications to Bournemouth University fall 15%
Applications to Bournemouth University have dropped by 15.2% compared to the national average of 7.4%, according to figures released today.
The university however pointed out it had raised its entry requirements for 2012 although says it can be assumed fee rises are affecting numbers too.
