A man was pronounced dead on the scene after being recovered from the sea at Bournemouth beach this morning.
The Police reportedly appeared at the coast around 7.40pm after a man was found in the water near Vesuvio restaurant on Alum Chine.
Julierme Bruniera, who was putting out chairs at the nearby restaurant, said he saw the body lying on the beach: “The ambulance was there already, and the body was surrounded by three or four guys, trying to save him. Then the police arrived and then another ambulance.”
The body was then rushed away from the scene.
It has been reported that the deceased has not yet been identified, inquiries are ongoing and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
As The Breaker arrived at the scene the coastguard was spotted patrolling the beach, but was not willing to make any comments as to what they were doing.
Bournemouth Pier was reported closed today due to health and safety risks.
