Beaches were ranked according to the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor over the past year.
In a statement, spokesperson Hayley Coleman at Tripadvisor says: “UK beaches continue to beat many others located in exotic destinations around the globe, proving that it’s not just good weather that makes a cracking beach.”
“Even with the lack of hot weather that the UK is known for, our beaches still stand up as some of the best rated in the world – and all right on our doorstep.”
With Bournemouth’s newly crowned beach, this south-coast town looks to be set for a busy season.
