Government leaders, social care providers and students will aim to raise awareness of child abuse in Bournemouth today.
They will hear about and discuss the behaviors of abusers and the abused during a Bournemouth University Training, organised by the Acts Fast Charity.
Marilyn Hawes, guest speaker from Enough Abuse UK Charity, said “if you don’t understand the behaviors you will miss it all the time.
“This is a pilot, this is a first. You are the next generation, let’s get the students equiped, so you will do a better job when you’re your careers than we are currently doing ours”.
Child Abuse is mostly likely to happen offline than online. “The mindset is the same, but online is faster. The modus operadi behind the eyes of the abuser is the same”, Hawes said.
The problem that it is happening now, according to Hawes, is that there is not enough support to help the victims. ” Whatever David Cameron did last week with the 9 million pounds, I would like to see at least 4 million of them going to help the lives of this people that have been so traumatised, borned perfect and messed up by adults,” Hawes said.
The Training will start at 2pm at Kimmeridge House, Talbot Campus.
