Coroner asks relatives of Weymouth man to step forward

West Dorset Coroner’s Court is searching for the next of kin of a Weymouth man who died in a fire on Monday.

A man who died in a Weymouth house fire this week has been named by West Dorset Coroners’ Court as Duncan Neil Roberts, 62.

He was killed after a serious fire broke out in a ground floor flat on Park Street.

The coroner is now trying to find Mr Roberts’ next of kin, and has urged them to come forward.

He is believed to have lived in Bournemouth around 20 years ago and may have a son and daughter.

Dorset Police spokesman Luke Blissett, said: “Dorset Police has investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident and there appears to be no third party involvement in the man’s death, and no suspicious circumstances at this time.”

Three fire engines from Weymouth and Portland attended Monday’s fire, which firefighters extinguished using six full sets of breathing apparatus and two jet hoses.

After recovering Mr Roberts’ body, police placed a cordon around the property and conducted house-to-house enquiries.

Any of Duncan Roberts’ family members should contact the coroner’s office as soon as possible on 01305 223033.
