Bournemouth has been named as one of the least affordable places to live in the world.
A survey by Demographia named the town the 10th least affordable, behind cities such as Hong Kong, Sydney and Los Angeles.
The figures are in line with the fact that house prices in Dorset, especially Bournemouth town, were found to be exceptionally higher in comparison to wages.
Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership subsequently conducted an independent study to look further into housing provision in Dorset and to help identify the issues with the increase in housing prices.
Housing being available in all shapes, sizes and prices is essential to Dorset’s economic growth but it still remains as a fundamental obstacle for local employers.
The Dorset LEP have said they hope that this study will help to enable them to work with developers to achieve their vision for a sufficient supply of affordable housing in Dorset.
