A 12-year-old boy had locals tapping their feet in Bournemouth Square yesterday afternoon.
Lewis Jordan Brown, a Bournemouth School for Boys pupil, took centre stage in the sunshine to show off his rock and roll piano-playing skills.
Lewis explained that although he finds performing tiring, he loves the attention. He said: “I was introduced to rock and roll in the first two seconds of my life. I was born to the sound of Jerry Lee Lewis and it sort of went on from there.”

His father David Brown was among the crowds. He said: “He started playing piano when he was eight-years-old, but he didn’t enjoy practicing so he gave up. He then came home from school one day saying he wanted to be in a talent show. His mother and I looked blankly at each other, wondering what he was going to do for the talent show, and he said, ‘play piano’.”
Mr Brown said that Lewis has just recorded his first album. “He had a really top line of musicians working with him. He had Chaz and Dave who played bass for him and he had Nick Lunt who is the sax player for Jools Holland.”
Despite Lewis’ ability to hold a crowd at such a young age, Mr Brown insisted that he leads a normal life and does things other children do too. “He probably won’t play tomorrow,” he said. “He enjoys other things too, but he does enjoy this when he’s got a crowd and it’s nice weather.”
