Wessex Water working hard to finish the sewage works on the A351

The A351 closed on the 9th March 2012 to put in place a sewage network to reduce flooding in the area.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “Wessex Water have been working closely with the Highways Maintenance to get the work done quickly.”

“After the two night closure on the 21 and 22 March 2012 the road will re-open on the 23 March 2012, one week before it was scheduled to open.”

The A351 will be closed in both directions on the 21 and 22 March, motorists will have to use the diversion route along the B3075 Morden Road onto the A35.

Sue Wellstead, a resident in Sandford who works in Poole said: “I am so happy that it is opening early, there have been rumours that the roadwork’s were going to take longer than planned.”

“The roadwork’s have been awful, it has meant I had to allow an hour to get to work each morning and it has cost me more in petrol.”

Another unhappy driver, Joyce Johnson thought the roadwork’s were a disgrace and a “waste of everyone’s time”.

“It never gets flooded on the Sandford Road, it was unnecessary and caused long queues on the Morden Road. I hope they leave the A351 alone now,” said Mrs Johnson.
