Something old. Something new

Another free wedding magazine launched in Dorset. Karen Yun went to Something Borrowed magazine’s launch party to find out what they feature.

Something Borrowed magazine published its first edition on Thursday with a small wedding fair at the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel in Bournemouth.

Three weeks after her own wedding, Eleanor Spry shares her wedding planning passion with Dorset brides by launching her own wedding magazine with partner, Sam Birkett. The Breaker interviewed them at the launch party.

Jumping from a day job in a marketing agency to the wedding industry, Eleanor and Sam started planning Something Borrowed in December,2011. Something Borrowed is a Bournemouth based wedding magazine, publishing every three months and featuring wedding events in Dorset. [wpcol_1half id=”” class=”” style=””]Facing large competitors  such as Wedding magazine and Dream Wedding in Dorset & Hampshire , Eleanor and Sam’s strategy is to mainly focus on couples within the local community. Something Borrowed is designed in A5, which is only half the size of  traditional A4 magazines.  If Dream Wedding in Dorset & Hampshire’s advantage is their professional layout and nationwide content then Something Borrowed is definitely winning readers favour with their features on local events and friendly styles. Eleanor and Sam believe it is important to build a close relationship with their readers.[/wpcol_1half][wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””][FMP width=”300″ height=”182″]http://www.thebreaker.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/something-borrow-magazine-interviews.m4v[/FMP] The Breaker interviews Eleanor Spry and Sam Birkett at the launch of their magazine[/wpcol_1half_end]

Eleanor said: “We want the magazine to be friendly so that the readers feel like they are having a conversation with the magazine as a friend rather than being told what to do. ”

The launch party was held in the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel main hall with about 6-7 wedding related stores displaying around the room, including local business from wedding cake shops to flowers shops and wedding planning companies.

If you are a Dorset bride and you missed the launch party, don’t worry, the current edition of Something Borrowed features news of all of the up-coming wedding fairs in the next two months.
