The best Nordic skier Great Britain has ever had Andrew Musgrave is currently training in Norway with some of the world's finest athletes. He has been world number one in his age group and is the first British cross-country skier ever to gain a place in the top 30 of a World event. In an unexpected turn of events he came second in the mens skiing 15K freestyle at the Norwegian National Championships in Voss, Norway.

An outspoken Dorset policeman may be facing charges of misconduct for “minor” indiscipline, according to the local police federation. Police constable Nick Manning is facing disciplinary action for posting his political views on Twitter. However, Chairman of Dorset Police Federation, Clive Chamberlain said: “Nick Manning is facing disciplinary action for a tweet that has now been deleted.” It is uncertain what this tweet stated.

Landlords support Boscombe housing plans

The National Landlords Association has said it will cooperate fully with the Council in its plans to improve standards of housing in Boscombe. Earlier this month, the council called on local landlords to help them improve standards in the area, after an assessment found that it is one of the most deprived parts of Bournemouth. They have said they want local landlords to help them identify properties that need improving. They also said they want to help tenants by providing them with guidance and advice if they think their property is not up to scratch.

Gypsy council slams traveller protests

The Gypsy Council says objections to proposed Bournemouth traveller sites are ‘bogus’ to avoid accusations of ethnic discrimination by opponents. Three of the proposed sites, identified by Dorset Councils to meet the needs of gypsies and travellers, are at Throop and Muscliff in Bournemouth. The fourth site is at Lansdowne. Gypsy Council Chairman Joseph Jones said people will object, wherever the site is.

Bournemouth landlords concerned about crime site

Expansion of the government’s popular crime mapping website Police.uk has sparked concerns over falling house prices and difficulties renting rooms among Bournemouth landlords. The website, which has received over 400 million hits since launching in February, has expanded the crimes it shows to include shoplifting, drugs, criminal damage and arson. By the end of this year, the site will also include the names of specific areas where crime levels are highest.
