A woman from Weymouth is hosting a tea party to raise money for ovarian cancer research this Saturday.
March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and to mark the occasion Theresa Clayton is holding a pantomine-themed tea party. She said, “Every year we try to come up with a different theme, one which we hope will be of interest to everyone. This year the theme of the party is going to be It’s Behind You – the magic of pantomime.
“Everyone is welcome to come dressed up as their favourite pantomime character and there will be prizes for the best costumes.”
“I want to make sure that she and all those other women who have lost their fight are never forgotten” – Theresa Clayton
Mrs Clayton was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2002 and lost her mother to the disease in 2007. She said, “I was very lucky, I am here, but my mum lost her courageous battle with this terrible disease and I want to make sure that she and all those other women who have lost their fight are never forgotten.”
In previous years, Mrs Clayton has hosted a Royal Tea Party, a Teddy Bears Picnic and a Pyjama party all of which have been a success.
The Tea Party will take place in St Andrew’s Church Rooms in Weymouth between 3 and 5pm and there will be a fancy dress parade, a raffle and a quiz.
Mrs Clayton said, “For me personally it is my way of saying thank you to those people who are trying so hard to make breakthroughs towards improving survival rates for women with gynaecological cancers.”
